Parts Negotiation To Resolve Inner Conflicts

This very funny lady Tiffany Jenkins is actually acting out and showing us a really important and serious truth. She brilliantly shows how our minds are made up of so many parts and thoughts. Sometimes humor is the most excellent of teaching tools.
A former addict who contemplated suicide while locked up in jail, now a mother successful author and comedian. We are all made up of multiple ‘parts’ and we have somewhere between five to fifteen differing aspects/parts of the subconscious. These ‘parts’ rule us. They decide how we act and what we feel. Parts Therapy is a super effective hypnosis technique to help clients resolve inner conflicts.
I’m sure you’ve often heard yourself say or think: ‘part of me wants to do it but part of me is not so sure.’ Sometimes they all talk at once and sometimes one particular part will come forward and steal the show being much louder and more forceful than all the other parts. Sometimes parts seem to get lost somewhere within us and lose their voice. I have clients who have even given specific names to different parts. I’ve done that myself and we can use it to our advantage in healing.
We could almost think of it as many different people and personalities living inside us. Well, actually they do. There’s nothing wrong with that because each one has a useful and important purpose at times. We need the counter balance. Their opinions need to be heard, their feelings felt and it’s from this vantage point that we can achieve healthy and logical conclusions of how we act, think and behave. What’s best for the whole of us, not just one overly bossy part.
When different parts are in conflict with each other, chaotic and negative thinking will most likely follow. Thoughts turn into actions and how we then react results in the behaviors we exhibit. Those actions can quickly become habits both negative and positive.
Does it feel like your mind sabotages your best efforts?
That’s because we often try to change an unwanted pattern of behavior and face resistance from within. Parts disagreeing with one another is a recipe for a hard time.
Make a picture in your mind of a bunch of people sitting around a table and having a meeting to try and solve a problem. They’re all shouting their thoughts and opinions out. They’re interrupting each-other and not even listening to the other people. They’re all running their own agendas and even getting angry with one another. They’ve actually lost track of what the meeting was about in the first place. They’re not working together productively but against each-other and solving nada. Yes, they are now in CONFLICT. What a mess! The above video shows this in action so effectively.
So, the goal really is to get these different parts to have a productive and helpful meeting. They need to discuss, negotiate, resolve differences so that resolutions can be made and conflicting ideas resolved. Past, present and future. This is how the inner self solves even longstanding problems and goals are achieved, behaviors changed.
Think of it as the hypnotherapist opening and mediating the meeting – this is Parts Therapy. It’s what I use with so many clients who are having inner conflicts or just feeling stuck in negative thoughts and behaviors. When done correctly and with skill, quick and excellent results will follow. As I like to say, if you’re in the mood for a good argument, everyone you need is right there, inside.
